General Questions
What is WRAP-TECH®?
WRAP-TECH® offers automotive films, wraps, protection products, and installation tools designed for vehicle customization and protection.
Our products are created for both experienced installers and DIY customers who want to personalize their vehicle at home.
Can I install WRAP-TECH® products myself?
Yes. Many WRAP-TECH® products are suitable for experienced DIY installation.
For the best results, we recommend carefully reviewing the installation instructions before starting, using the correct tools, and taking your time during surface preparation and application.
Do you offer professional installation?
WRAP-TECH® primarily supplies automotive films and installation products.
Professional installation availability may vary depending on your location. If you prefer professional installation, we recommend contacting a qualified local automotive film or wrap installer.
Where can I buy WRAP-TECH® products?
WRAP-TECH® products are available through our website and selected authorized retailers and online sales channels.
Product availability may vary by location.
Vehicle Wrap Film
What surfaces can vehicle wrap film be applied to?
Vehicle wrap film is generally intended for smooth, properly prepared, painted automotive surfaces.
The surface should be clean, dry, stable, and free from wax, grease, dirt, rust, oxidation, or peeling paint.
Always review the product instructions before installation.
Can I install wrap film over damaged or peeling paint?
We do not recommend applying vehicle wrap film over peeling, unstable, rusted, oxidized, or damaged paint.
The film may not adhere properly, and removing the film could further affect an already compromised surface.
Can WRAP-TECH® film be applied over repainted panels?
Repainted surfaces should be fully cured and stable before film is applied.
Because aftermarket paint quality and curing conditions can vary, compatibility should be confirmed before installation.
Can I wrap plastic trim or textured surfaces?
Not all plastic, rubber, textured, or low-energy surfaces are suitable for adhesive film.
Always confirm that the surface is compatible with the specific WRAP-TECH® product before installation.
Can I apply WRAP-TECH® film over ceramic coating or wax?
Wax, sealants, ceramic coatings, and similar surface treatments may reduce film adhesion.
The surface should be properly cleaned and prepared before installation.
Paint Protection Film
What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film, commonly called PPF, is a transparent protective film designed to help protect painted automotive surfaces from everyday wear such as minor scratches, abrasions, and road debris.
Will Paint Protection Film prevent all scratches and rock chips?
No.
PPF is designed to provide an additional layer of protection, but it is not indestructible and cannot prevent all scratches, chips, abrasions, or impact damage.
Can I install WRAP-TECH® Paint Protection Film myself?
Yes, depending on your experience and the complexity of the application.
For larger or more difficult panels, professional installation may produce better results.
How long does WRAP-TECH® Paint Protection Film last?
Product longevity can vary depending on installation quality, climate, vehicle use, maintenance, and environmental exposure.
Please refer to the WRAP-TECH® Limited Warranty for applicable warranty coverage.
Interior Wraps
Can WRAP-TECH® film be used on interior vehicle surfaces?
Selected WRAP-TECH® products are designed for interior customization.
Interior wraps can be used on suitable surfaces such as trim pieces, panels, consoles, and other compatible areas.
Always review the product description before installation.
Are WRAP-TECH® Interior Wrap products covered by the Vehicle Film Limited Warranty?
No.
WRAP-TECH® Interior Wrap products are not covered under the Vehicle Film Limited Warranty unless a separate written warranty specifically applies to that product.
Installation
How should I prepare the surface before installation?
Proper surface preparation is one of the most important steps.
Before installation:
-
Wash and dry the surface thoroughly
-
Remove dirt, grease, wax, sealants, and contaminants
-
Make sure the surface is completely dry
-
Confirm that the paint or substrate is stable and suitable for film application
Do not install over rust, peeling paint, damaged clear coat, or unstable surfaces.
What tools do I need for installation?
The tools required depend on the product and application, but common installation tools may include:
-
Squeegee
-
Microfiber cloth
-
Cutting tool
-
Heat gun
-
Application solution
-
Spray bottle
-
Edge or detailing tools
Always follow the installation instructions provided with the specific product.
Should I use a heat gun during installation?
Some wrap applications may require controlled heat for shaping, stretching, or finishing edges.
Avoid excessive heat, as overheating can damage the film or adhesive.
What happens if I overstretch the film?
Overstretching may weaken the material, affect appearance, reduce adhesion, or cause premature lifting or shrinking.
Stretch the film only as necessary and follow proper installation techniques.
Can I reposition the film during installation?
Depending on the product and application method, some repositioning may be possible during installation.
Avoid repeatedly lifting, overstretching, or contaminating the adhesive.
Can I install film outdoors?
For best results, installation should be completed in a clean, controlled environment whenever possible.
Dust, wind, temperature, moisture, and direct sunlight can make installation more difficult.
After Installation & Care
How long should I wait before washing my vehicle?
Allow the film sufficient time to bond after installation.
The recommended waiting period may vary depending on the product, temperature, and installation conditions.
Can I take my wrapped vehicle through an automatic car wash?
Hand washing is generally the safest cleaning method for wrapped or film-protected surfaces.
Automatic washes with aggressive brushes may damage film edges or surfaces.
Can I use a pressure washer?
Use caution when pressure washing film-covered surfaces.
Do not direct high-pressure water closely at edges, seams, corners, or areas where the film could lift.
What cleaning products should I use?
Use mild automotive cleaning products and soft microfiber cloths.
Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, aggressive solvents, or cleaning methods that could damage the film.
Can bird droppings, tree sap, or road contaminants damage the film?
Yes.
Bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, chemicals, and other contaminants should be removed as soon as reasonably possible to help protect the film.
Removal
Can WRAP-TECH® film be removed later?
Yes.
Automotive film can generally be removed when proper removal techniques are used.
Controlled heat may help soften the adhesive and make removal easier.
Will removing the film damage my paint?
Film applied to stable, properly cured factory paint should generally be removable.
However, damaged, repainted, peeling, oxidized, or poorly bonded paint may be affected during removal.
